Earlier this week we took delivery of our brewing equipment.  The new equipment was manufactured to our specs by Newlands Systems, Inc.  The system is based on a 15 bbl brewhouse, producing 15 bbls (~450 gallons) of wort.

The brewhouse, jacketed fermenters and bright tank sit on a specially prepared brewery floor.

Once the construction of the brewery is complete, we will update everyone on the availability of tours and growlers.  We are looking forward to sharing the space with you very soon.

The Washington County Historic Courthouse is an icon on the Stillwater landscape.  It has a commanding a view of Stillwater and the St Croix Valley. The Courthouse has served its community since 1870 and is the oldest standing courthouse in the state.

Enjoy season music, festive decorations, Lift Bridge Beer, sparkling champagne and delicious hors d’oeuvres and desserts serviced by courthouse supporters.  Mingle with friends and neighbors while browsing the booths laden with exquisitely crafted gifts created by costumed artisans.

Proceeds from this event go towards the restoration and operation of this landmark historic site.

If you can’t make the preview, the fun continues on Saturday and Sunday.  Bring the kids down to meet Santa in the afternoon.  No food or beer, but there will be live music, tearoom, holiday exhibits and tours of the old county jail.

The Happy Gnome is helping us celebrate the launch of Chestnut Hill on Wednesday with “Chestnut Hill Hump Day Happy Hour.”  The Gnome will have $3 pints and we will be on hand to share in the good times.  Stop by and check it out.

The seed for Cafe Levain was planted when owner Harvey McLain opened the doors of The Turtle Bread Company in Minneapolis’s Linden Hills neighborhood in 1996.  Since that time, he opened two additional Turtle Breads in Downtown Minneapolis and South Minneapolis, the latter of which provided enough additional space for McLain to start thinking bigger about his business scope.  After three years of operating as the well-known fine dining Restaurant Levain, Café Levain was launched in 2007 as a French bistro with a full menu of comfort food done right.
