Lift Bridge Brewing Co announces support for the proposed brewery legislation.

Stillwater, MN – February 15th, 2011 - When Lift Bridge Brewing Co was first conceived, we toured breweries all over the country. It became apparent that the legislation in Minnesota was not as favorable as surrounding states. We have been questioned as to why we decided on Stillwater and Minnesota in general. From a strict business perspective, it is hard to defend our decision, but it came down to being proud residents of Stillwater, the birth place of Minnesota.
There is a lot of confusion out there about what a brewery can actually do, how the laws compare to neighboring states and what the laws would look like should the proposed legislation get adopted.

Lift Bridge Brewing Company is in full support of Surly Brewing Company’s proposed legislation change. We understand the concerns of wholesalers, bars, restaurants and liquor store owners. In fact, they have been and will continue to be key partners. This law change will not adversely affect any of our partners; rather raise the profile of Minnesota beer. It will also help small local breweries get started and grow into successful local businesses, creating hundreds of quality jobs and generating millions in additional tax revenue.
We hope you will support the legislation change by passing this along to your family and friends and contacting your State Senator and State Representative.
